David’s story in insurance began when he was a young man exiting the army and looking for a job – an insurance company offered first. Luckily for him (and for the insurance industry) it was a perfect fit and he went on to single-handedly establish the Grand Rapids Office of Travis-Pedersen. As office manager and casualty broker, he specializes in Municipalities, Automobile and Automobile Parts Manufacturing, and Medical Products. David has many years of experience and leadership under his belt, having worked 12 years as an Underwriter and Branch Manager for a standard carrier and 16 years as a Broker and President of a competing surplus lines brokerage firm. While David’s resume is enough to impress any client, it is his sincere and familiar approach that grows business client relationships into long-term client friendships. David takes the time to nurture trusting client relationships and is most proud of situations where he can find coverage for a client who is in a difficult situation, often facing business closure without finding coverage.
David holds a B.A. in History from Michigan State and has a wonderful long relationship with his wife of 40 years. Grand Rapids has proved to be a perfect location for a Travis-Pedersen branch, where hard work can be enjoyed against the backdrop of beautiful season changes and the diverse geography. If he’s not golfing in his free time, there’s a good chance he’s attending a sporting event for one of his four grandchildren.
