Thirty-five years ago, Tim decided to move from teaching into commercial lines. After two years he knew he wanted to be in surplus lines and hasn’t looked back since. He became an effective broker by approaching his clients’ problems as if they were his own and finding them a coverage mix that worked at a fair price. With this attitude he co-founded Travis-Pedersen, along with Art Travis, 26 years ago.
An interest in nature and the outdoors plus a fishing trip to Alaska with his young sons eventually led Tim to start Alaska General Insurance Agency, LLC, in Anchorage Alaska. AGIA is a commercial lines MGA and Wholesale broker serving Alaska businesses since 1998. As owner, Tim makes regular visits for business and to enjoy the outdoors and fishing.
Tim has continued to build Travis-Pedersen and Associates into one of the premier wholesale brokerages for retailers who need broad market access with outstanding client service. He’s proud of his employees’ dedication and the track record they’ve produced.
While working to grow his business, Tim has also had the satisfaction of watching his children become adults – he has two grown sons in the insurance business and a daughter finishing school at the University of Missouri. Put him on a family vacation and he’s the happiest guy in the world.
